On the floor or on site, technicians use the app to open and complete work orders, update job status, take photos, scan asset QR codes and barcodes with the device camera, and look up equipment history. The vendor states that the app works fully offline and syncs changes automatically once the device is back in range. That is where a consumer tablet tends to fall short: plant floors, plant rooms and vehicles mean drops, dust, washdown, cold stores and long shifts away from a charger, and a consumer device with no ingress rating or drop rating is not built for that.

This page sets out what eMaint publishes about device requirements, which Tuga device meets them and how, what we cannot confirm (NFC, RFID and a supported browser list are not documented publicly), and the practical steps to get a unit running. Everything about the software is taken from the vendor's own site, the Google Play and Microsoft Store listings and the vendor knowledge base, with sources listed at the end.

Requirements

What eMaint X5 needs from a device

Each item below comes from Fluke Reliability (eMaint Enterprises, LLC)'s own listing or documentation, with the source linked.

  • Android app with a published minimum of Android 8.1 (vendor recommends Android 11 or higher)

The eMaint X5 app is on Google Play (developer Fluke Corporation, package com.fluke.emaintx5, version 4.1.10, updated 2 September 2026 at the time of writing), and the listing's 'Requires Android' value is 8.1. The vendor's own notice, 'Transition to New Minimum Android OS 8.1 (Effective April 9, 2024)', states 'Minimum Supported: Android 8.1' for the eMaint X5 Mobile App and strongly recommends Android 11 or higher. The Tuga A10 and Tuga A6 both run Android 14, so they meet the published minimum and the recommended version. Source: success.accelix.com

  • An active eMaint CMMS subscription

The Google Play description says 'Our mobile app requires a subscription to eMaint CMMS.' The pricing page lists 'Mobile App with Offline Work Mode' under the Professional plan (3 user minimum), and the Enterprise plan (5 user minimum) includes everything in Professional. Check with your eMaint account team that mobile access is included in your contract before buying devices. Source: play.google.com

  • Offline working with automatic sync

The vendor's mobile page FAQ states 'eMaint mobile works fully offline.' Offline users can view work orders, update job status, take photos, scan assets and access equipment history, and 'Once you're back in range, everything syncs automatically.' The Play description describes working in 'remote, network-unfriendly areas' and syncing changes later. A device with enough local storage and a battery that lasts the shift matters more than constant coverage. Source: emaint.com

  • Camera-based QR and barcode scanning

The work order page FAQ says the app 'works offline, uses your phone's camera and scanner, and generally functions like a consumer app'. The Play description says users can 'scan QR codes and barcodes on assets' and that anyone can scan asset QR codes to submit a work request on a downed asset. The vendor does not state that a dedicated scan engine is required. Note that 'QR and barcode scanning' appears in the Enterprise plan feature list on the pricing page rather than the Professional list, so confirm scanning is included in your plan. • No eMaint X5 Windows app; desktop access is through a web browser

The vendor's mobile page says 'We offer native apps for both iOS and Android devices.' The main eMaint application is cloud-based and hosted on AWS (pricing page) and is reached through a web login; the X4 login page at x41.emaint.com has a UK region option, and your eMaint administrator will give you the X5 address. We found no Microsoft Store listing for eMaint X5. The Microsoft Store does carry an older app called 'eMaint X4 Offline' (publisher eMaint, Windows 10 version 10240.0 or higher), which belongs to the previous X4 generation; the vendor does not say whether it works with X5 accounts, so we do not count it as an X5 path. No supported-browser list is published on public pages (the X5 knowledge base requires a login). A Windows 11 Pro device can run the browser-based application, but the X5 offline mobile app is Android and iOS only. Source: emaint.com

  • A device that can run standard business apps, with encryption on the device

The vendor publishes no recommended device list and no minimum screen size. Its mobile page FAQ says 'you don't need the latest model but rather a device that can run standard business apps', that 'You can also deploy the app on company-owned devices if you prefer', and that 'Data is encrypted both in transit and at rest on the device.' The vendor refers to the app running on 'smartphones and tablets'. Source: emaint.com

  • NFC and RFID: not documented

No eMaint vendor page, store listing or public knowledge base article we reviewed mentions NFC or RFID tag reading for eMaint X5. The Tuga devices include NFC hardware, but we do not present that as an eMaint feature. If NFC or RFID asset tagging matters to you, ask the vendor directly before relying on it. Source: emaint.com

Devices

Which Tuga device fits eMaint X5

Picked on the published requirements above and nothing else.

Our pick

Tuga A10 £449

eMaint X5 is an Android app with a published floor of Android 8.1 (Android 11 or higher recommended), it scans through the device camera rather than a dedicated scan engine, and it is designed to work offline for long stretches. The Tuga A10 (£449) matches that profile: Android 14, a 13MP rear camera with flash, 128GB of storage, an 8000mAh battery and an IP68 and MIL-STD-810H rated body with an operating range of -20 to 60C. The 10.1 inch 1920 x 1200 screen gives technicians room to read work order detail, equipment history and attached photos without zooming, which is the main reason to pick it over a handheld for a maintenance crew. One of our existing customers, an industrial asset-management firm, bought an A10 for maintenance technicians at an aerospace manufacturer to run a different CMMS mobile app, which is the same kind of use.

  • Requirement: Android 8.1 or later, Android 11 or higher recommended. The Tuga A10 runs Android 14, which meets both.
  • Requirement: camera-based QR and barcode scanning. The A10 has a 13MP rear camera with flash. Scanning is handled by the app through the camera; the A10 has no dedicated scan engine and the vendor's published method does not call for one.
  • Requirement: offline working with sync later. 128GB storage (microSD up to 2TB), an 8000mAh battery, and 4G dual SIM plus dual-band Wi-Fi 5 so changes sync when the device is back in coverage.
  • Plant floor conditions: IP68, MIL-STD-810H, tempered glass, operating temperature -20 to 60C.
  • Readability: 10.1 inch FHD IPS display at 1920 x 1200 and 350 nits, in a 680g body with a hand strap in the box.
Alternative

Tuga A6 £299

The Tuga A6 (£299) runs the same Android 14 and the same eMaint X5 app, but in a 6.78 inch handheld weighing 441g that fits a pocket or a belt holster. It suits technicians who walk a site all day, work from a vehicle, or need to photograph assets in poor light, since it carries a 50MP main camera and a 64MP night-vision camera. It also has 5G and a 10600mAh battery with 33W fast charging. The trade-off is screen size: work order forms and history views are smaller than on the A10, so most crews choose the A10 for the tablet and the A6 for roaming or lone-worker roles.

  • Requirement: Android 8.1 or later, Android 11 or higher recommended. The Tuga A6 runs Android 14.
  • Requirement: camera-based scanning and photos on work orders. 50MP main camera plus a 64MP night-vision camera for dim plant rooms and night shifts.
  • Requirement: offline working. 256GB storage, 10600mAh battery, 33W fast charge, and 5G plus Wi-Fi 5 for sync.
  • Harsh conditions: IP68 and IP69K, MIL-STD-810H, Gorilla Glass 5, glove mode, operating temperature -20 to 60C.
  • Portability: 6.78 inch FHD+ 120Hz display at 560 nits, 441g, belt holster available.
Alternative

Tuga W10 £649

eMaint has no X5 Windows app, so the Tuga W10 (£649) is not a device for the X5 offline mobile app. It is the right pick where a team needs the full cloud-hosted eMaint application in a desktop browser on the floor, for example a planner or supervisor station in a workshop, a kiosk by a line, or a device that also has to run other Windows software. Windows 11 Pro with an Intel N100, 8GB RAM and 128GB storage runs Edge or another desktop browser, and the RJ45 Ethernet port gives a wired connection where Wi-Fi is poor. Bear in mind the W10 is IP65, not rated for immersion, and the removable 5000mAh battery's run time depends on load.

  • Requirement: browser-based access to the cloud-hosted eMaint application. Windows 11 Pro on an Intel N100 (up to 3.4GHz), 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, running a full desktop browser.
  • Requirement: a reliable connection for a web application. 100Mbps RJ45 Ethernet plus dual-band Wi-Fi 5, with optional 4G LTE.
  • Fixed or shared station use: HDMI, USB-A and USB-C ports, pogo pin dock connector, and a charging dock available.
  • Workshop conditions: IP65 (dust tight, protected against water jets, not immersion), 10.1 inch 1280 x 800 multi-touch display, 1197g.
  • Not for offline field use on X5: the eMaint X5 offline mobile app is Android and iOS only, so the W10 needs a live connection to work in eMaint X5. The Microsoft Store 'eMaint X4 Offline' app is for the previous generation and the vendor does not say whether it works with X5.
Setting up

Getting eMaint X5 running

  1. Confirm with your eMaint account team that your organisation has an active eMaint CMMS subscription and that mobile access (the Professional plan lists 'Mobile App with Offline Work Mode') and, if you need it, QR and barcode scanning are included in your plan. The app requires a subscription and will not work without one.
  2. On the Tuga A10 or A6, connect to Wi-Fi, sign in to a Google account (a company-managed account if you use mobile device management), open Google Play and install 'eMaint X5' by Fluke Corporation (package com.fluke.emaintx5). If your technicians currently use the older Fluke Mobile app, the vendor publishes a migration guide for moving to eMaint X5 and gives an end-of-support date for Fluke Mobile of 31 October 2026.
  3. Open the app and sign in with the eMaint credentials your administrator has issued. Allow camera access when asked so that QR and barcode scanning through the camera works.
  4. Before sending a unit into an area with poor coverage, have the technician open it while connected so their work is available offline. The vendor states that changes made offline sync automatically once the device is back in range; ask your eMaint administrator how offline access is configured for your account.
  5. For the Tuga W10, open Microsoft Edge, go to the eMaint login address your administrator has issued and sign in. Consider plugging in Ethernet where workshop Wi-Fi is weak.
  6. Fit the charging dock (A10 and W10) at the workshop, or the vehicle mounting dock (£109) and 12V car charger for mobile technicians, and apply the tempered glass screen protector before the device goes into service.

Questions

eMaint X5 on a Tuga device

The vendor's published minimum for the eMaint X5 mobile app is Android 8.1, with Android 11 or higher recommended, and the Google Play listing gives the same floor of Android 8.1. The Tuga A10 runs Android 14, so it meets both. The vendor does not publish a list of recommended or tested devices, so we do not describe the A10 as certified or approved for eMaint. We welcome a single trial unit before a fleet order so your team can confirm it in your own environment.

Yes, on the Android app. The vendor states that eMaint mobile works fully offline: technicians can view work orders, update job status, take photos, scan assets and access equipment history, and everything syncs automatically once the device is back in range. Offline mode is listed as part of the Professional plan and above. The browser-based application on the Tuga W10 needs a live connection.

The vendor publishes no screen-size guidance for eMaint X5, so it comes down to how your technicians work. The A10's 10.1 inch 1920 x 1200 screen is easier for reading work order detail and attached documents, and it weighs 680g. The A6 is a 6.78 inch handheld at 441g with 5G, a 50MP main camera, a 10600mAh battery and IP69K on top of IP68, which suits roaming technicians, vehicles and night work. Many teams mix the two.

Trial one unit before you kit out the team.

Order a single Tuga A10 at £449, no VAT to add, with 30 days to send it back if it is not right. Business quotes and proforma invoices on request.
